The fund invests chiefly in a portfolio of equities issued by companies which are based in, or which pursue more than 50% of their activities (by sales or production) in a country undergoing or about to undergo a transition from a developing country to an industrial country, or which is included in the fund's benchmark. Investment is typically made in equities from Asia, Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe. The companies are from several regions, countries and sectors.
The objective of the portfolio management is continuously to generate a risk-adjusted return which is at least in line with the risk-adjusted return of the fund’s benchmark.
The return is measured over the time horizon which the typical investor in the fund should have as a minimum according to the paragraph on ‘The typical investor’.
The portfolio return is stated after costs of active portfolio management.
The fund may use derivative financial instruments.
